"Batman Eternal" alumni Scott Snyder and Jason Tynion IV will return as "Batman & Robin Eternal" "showrunners," with "Grayson" co-writer Tim Seeley back as part of the writing team. Also on the "Batman & Robin Eternal" writing squad: "Catwoman" writer Genevieve Valentine, "Midnighter" writer Steve Orlando, "Sheltered" writer Ed Brisson and "Hacktivist" writing duo Jackson Lanzing & Colin Kelly. Bat-books vet Tony S. Daniel will be the initial artist on the book, with Paul Pelletier and Scot Eaton also illustrating.
Snyder told press at Comic-Con International in San Diego that it's a story that "honors the legacy of Robin," dealing with Dick Grayson's past and present. Additionally, the story is set to reintroduce former Batgirl Cassandra Cain into the DC Universe.
"This is a character that, for me at least, I have loved for my entire comic reading life," Tynion told press. "We have the opportunity to bring her back, in a very, very central role." Tynion said that Cassandra Cain will be on of three main characters in the story, along with Dick Grayson and Harper Row.
"Robin War" is set to run for five weeks in December, playing out in that month's issues of "Robin: Son of Batman," "Gotham Academy" and "We Are Robin," along with two one-shot bookends written by "Grayson" co-writer Tom King. Khary Randolph is the only artist announced for the crossover thus far.
King made it clear that he's not shying away from the "crossover" label when talking about "Robin War." "This is an event," King said. "This is a crossover. I grew up on 'Inferno' I grew up on 'X-Tinction Agenda.' I loved those comics. I want to do that."
"Batman & Robin Eternal" #1 is scheduled for release on Oct. 7. "Robin War" runs through the month of December.
